Shak El Thoban... from Random Economy Zone to Global Industrial City

“Shak El Thoban industrial will be transferred from a random economy to an organized economy and an international industrial city specialized in the field of marble and granite,” said Cairo Governor Major General Khaled Abdel-Aal.

Abdel-Aal inked a cooperation protocol with Majid Fahmy Attia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Industrial Development Bank of Egypt to provide financing and banking services and credit facilities to the owners of factories, workshops, and exhibitions in Shak El Thoban zone.

Abdel-Aal said “we continue to implement President El Sisi`s instructions to develop Shak El Thoban industrial zone."

Facilitation provided to owners of projects

“We provide the owners of workshops, factories, and exhibitions at the industrial zone with all services and support,” added Abdel-Aal.

The area currently east of the highway extends 5 km to the borders of the protected Wadi Degla. It includes more than 2344 factories and workshops for the manufacture and export of marble. It employs about 50 thousand workers and technicians.

Abdel-Aal went on saying: “The protocol aims to provide the employees in Shak Al Thoban zone by Credit facilities. We help them implementing their obligations resulting from the completion of procedures to legalize their situation.

“The governorate will also provide the owners by all investment needs for the implementation of their projects,” he added. “We provide them by financial, technical, logistical and rehabilitation services to market their products.”

“We will cooperate with them in the preparation of training programs and workshops to build a culture and methodology for the successful management of projects and successful dealings with financing institutions,” Abdel-Aal said. “Their construction and expansions and equipment, the purchase of machinery and equipment will be funded.”
