American actress-singer Selena Gomez is starring in a biopic "In the Shadow of the Mountain", about Peruvian mountaineer and social entrepreneur, Silvia Vásquez-Lavado.
Elgin James will write and direct the production, which will also be produced by Gomez through her July Moon Productions.
The film is based on an upcoming memoir of the same name by Vásquez-Lavado, which is scheduled to publish in winter 2022.
Vásquez-Lavado became the first Peruvian woman to summit Mt. Everest to complete the Seven Summits, a challenge to climb the highest mountain on each continent.
