The Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority granted a 25-year concession to the Egytrans NUSCO – Nafeth International Alliance to build and operate an advanced truck parking and routing system at the Port of Sokhna.
The project spans 167,000 square meters and involves investments exceeding EGP 1 billion, aiming to streamline truck entry and exit, reduce congestion, and optimize cargo flow within the port and its surroundings. Equipped with modern digital systems, the facility will manage truck reservations, schedule movements, and provide real-time traffic planning, enabling the port to handle 800–1,100 trucks daily.
In a statement, Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, emphasized that the initiative is a key step in enhancing port efficiency and establishing a “smart port” model.
“The truck management system will reduce waiting times, improve flow, and maximize throughput, especially following expansions that now provide 23 kilometers of quay lines and a diverse array of terminals serving multiple cargo types,” he said.
The project aligns with Egypt’s vision to strengthen its role as a regional hub for industry, transport, logistics, and trade, offering a competitive investment environment and supporting future growth in cargo volumes.
The Port of Sokhna has recently achieved international recognition, earning a Guinness World Record in December for having the deepest man-made onshore port basin at 19 meters, highlighting its strategic importance in regional shipping.
By integrating digital scheduling, real-time monitoring, and optimized traffic flows, the new system is expected to cut transport costs, reduce delays, and enhance delivery reliability, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a pivotal logistics center in the Middle East and North Africa.
