In response to the ongoing floods in northern France, local authorities have decided to keep schools closed on the coming Monday.
The decision was announced by the Pas-de-Calais department on Friday.
According to authorities, 13 educational institutions will be unable to welcome students on Monday following the Christmas break.
Some lessons will be relocated to alternative locations, while others will be conducted online.
The heavy rainfall has caused several rivers in the region to overflow, leading to widespread flooding. Pas-de-Calais is currently under the second-highest flood warning level.
As a result of the flooding, over 700 people have been forced to evacuate their homes. The department also reported that around 250 individuals are still without electricity.
It's worth noting that northern France had already experienced flooding at the beginning of last November.
