A man in Al-Qassim who violated coronavirus regulations by bringing a barber into his home was arrested by Saudi police, state news agency SPA announced.

Videos circulated on social media showed the man as he requested a barber to reach his house after authorities briefly shut down barbershops and lounges to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

Previously, the Saudi Public Prosecutor has warned that anyone sharing material on social media, including images or videos showing violations of curfew, or flouting any imposed laws to avoid the dissemination of COVID-19 face prosecution.

In a message posted on Twitter, the office said the offenders will be prosecuted under Article Six of the Law on Prevention of Information Theft, which carries a sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $796,880. The penalty will apply to violators but informers will not be questioned, she added.

It is worth mentioning that, The World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

People across the globe partake in self-isolation for 14 days as an effective precautionary measure to protect those around them and themselves from contracting COVID-19.

Transmission of virus between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

It can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
