Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, received a phone call from his US counterpart, Marco Rubio, according to a statement issued by Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry stated that "during the call, bilateral relations were reviewed, and the latest developments in the region, along with the efforts being made in that regard, were discussed."
It is worth mentioning that, relations between US and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are considered one of the most prominent strategic alliances in the Middle East, with roots extending back more than eight decades since the signing of the oil cooperation agreement in the 1940s.
Cooperation areas between the two countries include energy, defense, and regional security, in addition to coordination on economic issues and counter-terrorism.
Despite the relations having gone through periods of political tension over certain regional files, both parties have maintained a high level of mutual communication and coordination.
Washington and Riyadh consistently affirm that their partnership is based on mutual interests and regional stability, especially in light of geopolitical transformations and global energy market challenges.
