Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology has issued a warning of an intense cold wave expected to affect several regions across the Kingdom, with temperatures forecast to drop as low as minus one degree Celsius in some areas.

Hussein Al-Qahtani, official spokesperson for the National Center for Meteorology, said in a post on the social media platform X that the coldest regions will include Tabuk, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, and northern parts of Madinah, where temperatures are expected to range between 3°C and -1°C.

Al-Qahtani added that Al-Qassim, as well as northern parts of the Riyadh and Eastern Province regions, will also be affected by the cold wave, with temperatures ranging between 4°C and 1°C, depending on local conditions.

The National Center for Meteorology also warned of strong winds that could lead to dust storms and significantly reduced visibility across parts of Tabuk, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders, with a chance of light rainfall in some areas.

Active winds carrying dust and sand are expected to continue affecting parts of Makkah, Madinah, Hail, Al-Qassim, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. Meanwhile, weather conditions remain favorable for the formation of thunderclouds and rainfall over northern parts of the Eastern Province, as well as sections of the western and southwestern highlands.

The authority also cautioned that fog may form during the night and early morning hours in several regions, potentially affecting road safety.
