On Sunday, the Saudi Interior Ministry announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) temporarily suspended all international flights for citizens and residents over fears about the fast-spreading new COVID-19 variant, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The ministry indicated that the suspension is for a week asserting that it could be extended “until medical information about the nature of this virus becomes clear.”
In the same context, the Saudi government ordered inpiduals who returned from or passed through a European country over the past three months to have a COVID-19 test as soon as possible, in addition to having a home isolation period for two weeks starting from the date of entering the country.
Furthermore, another additional five days of isolation should be taken after the test.
Finally, the Kingdom asserted that the movement of goods, commodities, and supply chains from countries where the new strain of COVID-19 has not appeared are excluded from the above-mentioned measures, adding that these procedures will be reviewed in light of the developments related to the pandemic.
