The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its rejection and condemnation in the strongest terms of the brutal Iranian attack that targeted the United States Embassy building in Riyadh.
The Kingdom emphasized that the recurrence of such cowardly and unjustified attacks blatantly contradicts all international norms and laws, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which grant immunity to diplomatic premises and their personnel, even in cases of armed conflict.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia stressed that the repetition of this flagrant Iranian behavior, which persists despite the Iranian authorities' knowledge of the Kingdom’s stance that it will not permit the use of its airspace or territory to target Iran, will push the region toward further escalation.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its full right to take all necessary measures and procedures to protect its security, the integrity of its territory, its citizens, residents, and vital interests, including the option to respond to the aggression.
