Saudi Arabia Lifts Entry Ban, Imposes Strict Coronavirus Measures

Thismorning, Saudi Arabia ended the entry ban, which was related to the spread of new coronavirus strain, allowing entry to the Kingdom by sea, land and air.

A ministry of interior official said that those who come from countries where the new variant spread such as the UK, South Africa and any others, must enter quarantine for 14 days, according to SPA.

They will undergo two PCR examinations; the first after arrival, not more than 48 hours, and the second one will be on the 13th day of quarantine period, proving that they are free of the infection.

As for those coming from countries, in which cases of the strain (B. 1, 1, 7) have been recorded, they will have to be quarantined in their homes under surveillance for a period of 7 days, with a PCR examination, before the end of the quarantine period on the sixth day.

Concerning the rest of other countries, citizens have to enter a mandatory home quarantine for 7 days or at least 3 days, with a mandatory laboratory examination using the (PCR) technology.

Last Monday, Saudi Arabia decided to extend the suspension of all international flights and entry to the Kingdom through the land and seaports for another week over fears due to new Coronavirus strain, the SPA news agency reported, according to an interior ministry source.

The source added that Saudi Arabia’s government decided to take this step to continue assessing the current situation, and to ensure the safety of citizens and expatriates.

Moreover, the source confirmed on excluding the movement of goods, commodities, and supply chains, as well as allowing the departure of Non-Saudis through flights, in accordance with the precautionary measures adopted by the Ministry of Health.
