The U.S. Embassy in Cairo proudly celebrates the resumption of SAT testing in Egypt following an agreement reached today between the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the U.S. educational organization College Board. The return of the SAT represents a significant step forward for Egyptian students seeking international educational opportunities. As a key component of the U.S. university admissions process, the SAT opens doors to global academic institutions, scholarships, and career pathways. Its reintroduction will help ensure that Egyptian students remain competitive and well-prepared for higher education opportunities both in the United States and around the world.

The resumption of SAT testing in Egypt marks a notable achievement that reflects the shared commitment of the United States and Egypt to empower youth through education. By restoring access to this vital academic credential, both nations are helping Egyptian students pursue their educational goals and expand their opportunities on the global stage.

The College Board will begin offering the digital SAT in Egypt starting with the June 2025 administration, joining over 180 countries already delivering the test in digital format. The SAT will be available at weekend test centers, many of which previously offered the paper-based version. The digital SAT is designed to be more accessible, secure, and student-friendly, while continuing to assess the core skills essential for college and career readiness. Recognized by universities and scholarship programs in the United States and over 85 other countries, the SAT remains a trusted global credential.

For those interested in studying in the United States, the U.S. Embassy’s EducationUSA program offers free advising services to help explain the process. Education USA services are open to everyone in Egypt.
