Early Saturday, South Korea will launch its first military spy satellite via a SpaceX rocket, the South Korean Defence Ministry announced on Friday.
The ministry highlighted that this move is part of the space race between both Koreas, especially, after Pyongyang launched its first military satellite last month.
Seoul's eye will lift off from the Vandenberg US Space Force Base in California.
In the same context, SpaceX posted a photo of its Falcon 9 rocket after being replaced in the position of launching, carrying the letters "KOREA."
It was reported that Seoul plans to launch another four spy satellites by the end of 2025.
The device is set to orbit between 400km and 600km above the earth and it can detect small objects, according to the Yonhap news agency.
Korean Defense Minister told the news agency: "Considering resolution and its capacity for Earth observation ... our satellite technology ranks in the top five globally."
