Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Supervisor of Russian Affairs in the BRICS, Sergei Ryabkov, said today, Monday: “The BRICS intends to discuss the situation in Syria and work to reach a unified approach to deal with the current developments, within the framework of its leadership of the group.”
Ryabkov explained - in an interview with the Russian news agency TASS today - that “the BRICS group is engaged in discussions on all matters related to the Middle East, and it is normal that the situation in Syria will be a focal point in those discussions".
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister concluded by saying: “Since the greatest momentum revolves around the comprehensive political process in Syria, which is expected to determine the framework for the country’s future governance structure and its political organization, the BRICS group will focus on discussing this matter".
