The Russian Ministry of Defence accused Ukraine on Saturday of planning an attack on the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant and attempting to blame Moscow for this "provocation."
According to the ministry, as reported by Interfax news agency, Russia will deliver a harsh response if such an attack occurs, warning that it would result in widespread contamination around the plant.
Ukraine began an incursion into the Kursk region in western Russia on August 6, claiming to have taken control of 82 residential areas covering 1,150 square kilometres in the region since then. However, the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant remains under Russian control, according to Reuters.
