Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on Military Security and Arms Control, stated on Wednesday that the West is attempting to escalate the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to a stage of "global confrontation."
In a statement reported by the Russian news agency TASS, Zhdanova explained: "It is clear to everyone that it is not Russia that is advancing its military infrastructure toward the borders of NATO member states, nor is it deploying military bases around the world or waging a proxy war against NATO members."
She added: "Instead, the entire world is witnessing a new chapter in the anti-Russian policy of the 'Collective West,' which seeks—by extracting funds from its taxpayers—to transform the conflict in Ukraine into a phase of global confrontation."
Zhdanova continued: "Naturally, those who obstruct peace in Ukraine and support the war there cannot expect a seat at the negotiating table to end it."
