For the first time since the start of the Russian military operation, Russian and Ukraine exchanged prisoner, Russian authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
Human Rights Commissioner in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova said in an interview with RT: "The first exchange happened. We returned nine of our boys," confirming that Russian servicemen were exchanged for the mayor of Melitopol.
Noteworthy, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launching of military operations in Ukraine on the morning of February 24.
European, Western and American countries imposed huge economic sanctions on Russia. The sanctions also targeted Moscow’s leaders, led by President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
