According to IMF data, the impact of the war on the Russian and Ukrainian economies appeared to vary between the two countries, which witnessed fluctuations in the value of their gross domestic products over the past three years.
Ukraine's GDP fell from $200 billion in 2021 to $161 billion in 2022, the year of the Russian invasion, before beginning to recover and is expected to reach $190 billion in 2025.
Russia's GDP fell from $2.27 trillion in 2022 to about $2 trillion in 2023, before rising again in 2024 to $2.18, while it is expected to reach $2.2 trillion this year.
