Russia has announced plans to make a one-time voluntary contribution of €1 million to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
According to TASS news agency, the decision was formalized through an executive order.
The contribution aims to support the representation of Russian personnel within the convention's secretariat, thereby promoting Russia’s interests in global climate initiatives.
The UNFCCC, established on March 21, 1994, seeks to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions at levels that prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system.
While the framework lays out basic principles for addressing climate change, it does not dictate specific measures. To date, 197 nations and territories have ratified the agreement.
