Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov announced that Russia is currently discussing the possibility of deploying a Russian field hospital in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible, in coordination with Israel, the "Peace Council," and several other countries.
Viktorov explained that the Russian initiative, which was first proposed two years ago, is undergoing serious negotiations for immediate implementation, noting that Moscow is prepared to supply the facility with Russian medical equipment and specialized medical teams.
The Ambassador added that the rapid execution of this initiative is being discussed with Israeli counterparts and international representatives, including the Peace Council, as well as neighboring countries such as Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
He pointed out that while the Israeli side initially showed interest in the idea, they had expressed concerns regarding the ability to provide the necessary security protection for the Russian medical personnel.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed his country’s readiness to carry out the project during his recent meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Kremlin on January 22.
This initiative comes as part of broader international efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and provide essential medical services to the affected population.
