Russia plans to extend its ban on gasoline exports until the end of September, according to Interfax news agency.

The export restrictions, first introduced on July 28, were initially set to expire on August 31. Moscow has said the measure is aimed at stabilizing the domestic fuel market during peak seasonal demand and ensuring sufficient supplies for Russian farmers, according to Reuters.

The original ban applied only to a limited volume of gasoline sold abroad by resellers, while major oil producers were allowed to continue exports. However, the July order imposed a broader temporary halt.

Sources told Reuters last month that the restrictions would exempt shipments to members of the Moscow-led Eurasian Economic Union, a bloc of five former Soviet states, as well as countries such as Mongolia that have intergovernmental fuel supply agreements with Russia.
