About 250 Ukrainian forces were killed during operations by Russian forces in different parts of the Donbas region and Ukraine during the last 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday.
"On the evening of July 29, high-precision air weapons destroyed a military train at the Krasnoarmesk station in the Donetsk People's Republic, which was carrying an assault battalion of the 1st Independent Brigade of the Ukrainian President. More than 140 nationalists were killed and about 250 others were injured,” the ministry said in a statement.
Over 845,000 refugees have arrived in Russia from Ukraine and Donbass, since the start of the military operation, Russian sources revealed.
Moreover, the sources pointed out that there are more than 32,000 refugees, including nearly 12,000 children, in temporary accommodation centers in 45 regions throughout the country.
“The rest were distributed to relatives or acquaintances living in Russia,” the sources added.
The US representative to the United Nations (UN), Linda Thomas Greenfield, described the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as the “worst” in Europe since World War II.
“Around half of all children in Ukraine have been displaced,” Greenfield said.
On his part, UNICEF’s emergency programs director, Manuel Fontaine, said, “It is time to end this war, and the children of Ukraine cannot wait.”
She added that nearly half of the estimated 3.2 million children still in their homes in Ukraine “may be at risk of not having enough food.”
It is worth mentioning that some UN officials had earlier called for an investigation into violence against women during the Russian war on Ukraine, calling for the protection of children in this conflict.
