The Correspondent of Russia Today, a Russian news website, said that a fire broke out today, Monday, in centers of quarantining patients infected with the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19) in hospitals in Baghdad and the southern part of Iraq.

The correspondent indicated that a fire erupted in Al Hussein Educational Hospital in Dhi Qar Governorate, south of the country.

Squads of civil defense hurried to the scene.

According to the Iraqi official news agency, the fire claimed the lives of more than thirty-six people.

Dhi Qar's fire came hours later from another fire that took place in Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq.

However,  a "Sky News" reporter affirmed that the mega-fire that broke out in a hospital in Dhi Qar governorate resulted from exploding of oxygen cylinders.

The Iraqi official news agency said that the authorities evacuated the patients after the fire broke in Imam Al-Hussein hospital in the governorate.

Iraq's Interior Ministry mentioned that fire squads are still fighting the fire in that hospital.

Users of social media websites have traded video footages that documented thick black smoke billowing into the sky from the vicinity of the hospital.

It is worth noting that last April, a fire broke out in Ibn Al-Khattab Hospital in Baghdad, which is also designated to isolate Corona patients, and at that time about 100 people lost their lives.
