Iraqi Prime Minister (PM) Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani discussed Saturday bilateral ties between both countries over the phone.
The two sides underlined the importance of boosting relations between the two states in all fields.
On his part, Rouhani commented on Pope Francis's visit to Iraq, praising the Iraqi government's efforts to ensure the success of this historic visit.
Moreover, the Iranian president stressed that Iraq's security, integrity, and peace is a priority for Iran, adding, “We are against any kind of foreign intervention in Iraq’s internal affairs and we consider it detrimental to the country and the entire region."
In addition, they also agreed that dialogue is the only and best way to solve conflicts and crises in the region.
