In a powerful display of discontent, a large gathering of Britons took to the streets of London on Saturday to protest against the UK's decision to leave the European Union.

The demonstration, known as the "National March for Rejoining," saw hundreds of participants waving the blue and gold flag of the EU and marching from Hyde Park to Parliament Square. Their aim was clear: to voice their regret over Brexit and advocate for the UK's return to the EU.

With signs bearing messages such as "The Path to Rejoin the EU Starts Here" and "Rejoin and Rejoice," the protestors expressed their determination to reverse the country's departure from the EU, which occurred as a result of the 2016 referendum. The movement behind the march, led by co-founder Peter Coor, seeks to reignite the discussion around Brexit, as he believes that leaving the EU was a disastrous mistake with severe consequences, particularly for the working class and the poor.

While the call for rejoining the EU has gained momentum, it is not without opposition. Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, has dismissed the idea of the UK returning to the EU, countering accusations from the ruling Conservative Party that he aims to "cancel Brexit." Starmer maintains that there is no justification for the UK to rejoin the EU, including its Customs Union or Single Market.

Meanwhile, Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, acknowledges the importance of reestablishing Britain's position within Europe but acknowledges that it will require time and effort.

As the debate surrounding Brexit continues to shape European politics, the issue remains a divisive topic. While some Britons express regret and actively advocate for reintegration, others are more focused on navigating the post-Brexit landscape. The upcoming 2025 review will play a crucial role in determining the future relationship between the UK and its European neighbors.
