Queiroz Name 24-Man Squad for Liberia's Friendly

Egypt's new head coach Carlos Queiroz named on Sunday 24-man squad for Liberia's friendly match.

The Pharaohs are set to clash against Liberia on Thursday at Borg Al Arab Stadium at 21:00 CLT.

The 24-Man Squad is as Follows:

Goalkeepers: El Shenawy (Al Ahly), Abo Gabel (Zamalek), Mohamed Bassam (Talaa' El Giash), Mohamed Sobhi (Farco)

Defenders: Ahmed Fatouh (Zamalek), Mohamed Abdel Shafy (Zamalek), El Winsh (Zamalek), Aymen Ashraf (Al Ahly), Baher El Mohamdy (Ismaily), Ahmed Tawfik (Pyramids) Akram Tawfik (Al Ahly).

Midfielders: Hamdy Fathy (Al Ahly), El Solia (Al Ahly), Tarek Hamed (Zamalek), Mohand Lashin ( Talaa' El Giash), Afsha (Al Ahly), Abdallah El Saeed (Pyramids).

Forwards: Mohamed Sherief (Al Ahly), Mostafa Fathy (Zamalek), Ramadan Sobhi (Pyramids), Ibrahim Adel (Pyramids), Zizo (Zamalek), Ahmed Samir (Talaa' El Giash).

The Portuguese coach ordered that all players, who have been named in the squad, must take two days as a break before joining the closed camp on Tuesday.

Who is Carlos Queiroz ? … Egypt’s New Head Coach

The Portuguese started his football career in 1989; he led Portugal’s U-17 national team till 1991. He guided his national team to lift Euro under 17 title in 1989, as well as, claiming World Cup title in 1989 and 1991.

He moved to lead Greece’s Nagoya Grampus club from 1996 till 1998. He led them to reach Asian Cup Winners’ Cup final, but losing to Saudi’s Al Hilal 3-1.

He was appointed as UAE’s manager in 1999 and left them in 2000 to lead South Africa. His most prominent career was in 2002, when he was named to be the assistant manager of Man Utd’s manager Alex Ferguson.

The Portuguese moved to lead Real Madrid and guided them to win Spanish Super Cup. He led Portugal’s national team in World Cup, but he failed to qualify for last. He was sacked by the football governing body in Portugal.

Then, he was appointed as Iran’s head coach and led them to qualify for the World Cup twice.
