CAF have announced the list of nominees for this year’s Coach of the Year award and included both Carlos Queiroz as well as Pitso Mosimane.

Queiroz had led the Egyptian national team to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final where he suffered a defeat on penalties against Senegal back in February.

The Portuguese also lost to Senegal again on penalties a month later as Egypt missed out on qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

As a result, he was sacked by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and was replaced by Ehab Galal, who also departed his role after just three games in charge.

On the other hand, Pitso Mosimane led Al Ahly to another impressive year in African competitions that saw the Red Devils reach the CAF Champions League final for the third consecutive season.

However, they failed to make it three titles in a row after losing 2-0 against Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in controversial circumstances.
