The number of death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey jumped to about 22,000, Sky News Arabia reported.

Turkish Vice President announced that the number of earthquake victims had risen to 17,674 dead and about 73,000 injured ones in Turkey, while the number of earthquake victims in Syria had risen to more than 4,000 dead and 5,000 wounded ones.

Noteworthy, The Director of the Media Department of the Syrian Civil Defense, Mohammad al-Shibli, announced the arrival of a single Egyptian team consisting of about 17 people to northern Syria to rescue those affected by the earthquake.

He explained that Egyptian doctors, including health service providers, and specialists in removing rubble and rescuing and recovering victims from below, are the only ones who were able to enter the regions of northern and western Syria.

Al-Shibli added that the Syrian Civil Defense extended its thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian people based on the efforts of the only technical team that entered difficult areas that were greatly affected by the effects of the devastating earthquake, which has claimed thousands of victims so far.

Al-Shibli indicated that the Egyptian technical team is working in the meantime in the field to recover and save the largest number of victims, as it has been working since its arrival and entry into Syria to save the largest number and carry out the great humanitarian tasks it has been providing since its arrival in the affected areas.
