Qatar has welcomed the efforts of Yemen’s internationally recognized government to advance national dialogue and address the southern issue through peaceful and inclusive means.

In an official statement issued on Saturday, Doha expressed its support for initiatives aimed at strengthening political dialogue as a pathway toward resolving Yemen’s internal challenges.

Qatar praised the request made by Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi to convene a conference in Riyadh to discuss fair and comprehensive solutions to the southern issue. Doha described the move as a clear indication of the Yemeni leadership’s commitment to dialogue as the primary tool for addressing national concerns.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry also expressed its appreciation to Saudi Arabia for hosting the proposed conference, noting that the initiative aligns with Riyadh’s continued efforts to support stability, security, and political solutions in Yemen.

Qatar reaffirmed its full backing for regional and international efforts aimed at reviving the political process in Yemen, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable path toward ending the prolonged crisis. The statement emphasized that such efforts are essential for restoring security and stability in Yemen and the wider region.

Saudi Arabia had earlier welcomed the Yemeni leadership’s request to host a broad conference in Riyadh, bringing together southern political and social forces to discuss the southern issue and explore solutions through dialogue.

The announcement comes amid ongoing military developments in eastern Yemen, where forces affiliated with the “Homeland Shield” have reported advances in parts of Hadramout, alongside withdrawals by the Southern Transitional Council from several positions.
