Qatar Welcomes U.S.-Iran Talks in Muscat, Calls for De-escalation

Qatari Prime Minister (PM) and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, reaffirmed Qatar’s welcome of the negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran currently held in Muscat. 

Moreover, he expressed Qatar's hope that these talks would lead to a comprehensive agreement that serves the interests of both parties and bolsters security and stability in the region.

​This came during Qatati PM reception of the Iranian Foreign Minister, currently visiting the country, on Saturday. 

According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the meeting reviewed ongoing efforts to reduce regional escalation.

​Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani emphasized the necessity of collective efforts to spare the peoples of the region from the consequences of escalation, stressing the importance of continued coordination with brotherly and friendly nations to resolve disputes through diplomatic means.
