Qatar has committed $75 million to support Sudan in response to the ongoing crisis in the country.
This pledge was announced following a meeting between Aliyah Ahmed Bin Sief Al Thani, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Tom Perriello, the US Special Envoy to Sudan.
According to Qatari news agency QNA, the meeting focused on the latest developments in Sudan, particularly the worsening humanitarian situation.
Since May 2023, Qatar has been operating an air bridge to deliver aid to Sudan, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Sudanese people through their challenging circumstances.
This aid includes assistance for those affected by floods and other crisis-related needs.
The Qatari representative highlighted that this new pledge of $75 million is part of Qatar’s ongoing support for Sudan since the onset of the crisis.
