French-Israeli journalist Nader Allouche confirmed that the health condition of former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has deteriorated dramatically recently.

Allouche indicated that the Qatari royal family asked help of a medical team from the United States, which included two Jewish doctors to treat the father of the ruler of the Emirate of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

"The former Emir of Qatar is between life and death after he caught the coronavirus, a team of American doctors was sent. Among them are 2 Jews,” the French journalist tweeted on Friday.

It is noteworthy that Hamad bin Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Muhammad Al Thani, the former emir of Qatar, took over the emirate on June 27, 1995 after he led a coup d’etat against his father, the emir of the state of Qatar at that time, Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani until he abdicated the ruling to his son Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on June 25, 2013.

Qatar’s Emir issued last month several directives to combat the spread of the coronavirus in the country including banning the entry of anyone except for Qatari nationals and implementing a $23.35 billion stimulus package to shield the economy, state news agency QNA reported.

However, he allowed receiving Qatari citizens coming from any destination in the world, provided that they are placed in quarantine for a period of 14 days and urged citizens and residents in the country to avoid travel during the coming period of time.

The Emir also allowed the following categories to work remotely: Employees over the age of 55, pregnant women, and people suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart and kidney disease, and high blood pressure.

In addition, all students in government schools started studying remotely since March 22, and students from grades one to eleven will be subject to a continuous evaluation system.
