Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will continue the special military operation until its goals are achieved, noting that Donbas is Russian territory and this is a historical fact.

Speaking during a meeting of the Russian Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, according to the Russian news agency "Sputnik," Putin said: "We will absolutely bring this matter (the special military operation) to its logical conclusion, until the goals of the special military operation are achieved."

Moreover, he stressed that Donbas is Russian territory and this is a historical fact, saying: "These territories are important, they are our historical lands, absolutely. Russia was founded in such a way that these (lands) have always been a part of it."

He also indicated that Russia is trying to end the war that began with a coup in Ukraine and is forced to do so by force of arms, stating: "We seek to end this war, and we are forced to do so by force."
