Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that the world should change, stressing that Russia opposes building a new world in interests of only one country, US.
"The West's attempts to reshape the world based on its interests after the collapse of the Soviet Union led to the status quo," Putin said in an interview with Russia 1 TV channel, stressing that "his country was forced to respond to this trend."
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the US and other Western currencies will inevitably lose their leading position in global cross-border transactions.
In his annual address to the Federal Assembly, the head of state mentioned that Moscow will cooperate with its allies to build a secure system of international settlements that do not depend on the dollar or the euro.
According to Putin, the current policies of Western countries are causing the US dollar and the euro to lose their universality in international payments.
He explained that Russia's former Western partners are forcing Moscow to cut off settlements in dollars and other Western currencies.
