President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi issued Presidential Decree No. 90 of 2026 appointing Akram Ahmed El-Gohary as head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics with the rank of minister for a one-year term starting Feb. 14.
The decree, published in the Official Gazette, also appointed Tawfiq Abdel Rahim Abdel Gawad Qandil as deputy head of the agency with the rank of deputy minister for one year as of the same date.
El-Gohary had previously served as deputy head of the agency under a presidential decision issued in 2025. During his tenure, he represented the agency at several international events, including meetings of heads of statistical offices of the BRICS group in Brazil. He has held a number of senior positions and contributed to national projects in the field of information technology.
