President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call, Friday, from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the call addressed the ongoing regional developments, where President Sisi stressed the necessity of stopping the current escalation and prioritizing peaceful solutions to all crises in the region in a way that preserves the stability of states and the resources of their peoples.
The two leaders emphasized their complete rejection of Iranian attacks on Arab countries, particularly in light of those countries’ positions rejecting the war and the efforts they made to prevent it from occurring. They also warned of the negative repercussions of the war on the region, especially the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the related economic consequences.
The spokesperson added that the two presidents also discussed developments in the Palestinian issue, where President Sisi reviewed the efforts being made by Egypt with mediators and all active parties to ensure the completion of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the entry of sufficient aid for the residents of the enclave.
On his part, the Palestinian president expressed his great appreciation for the efforts made by Egypt and President Sisi personally to achieve security and stability in the region, especially Egypt’s role in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to establish an independent state. He also reviewed the vision of the Palestinian National Authority for implementing reforms and achieving Palestinian reconciliation.
