President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from French President Emmanuel Macron.

The official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic said that the call focused on the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, as part of preparations for the French President's upcoming visit to Egypt.

The talks also focused on the most important cooperation topics raised during the visit and prospects for enhancing them in a manner consistent with the interests of the two friendly countries, including the possibility of holding a tripartite Egyptian-French-Jordanian summit in Cairo during the French President's visit to Egypt.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, added that the call addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, where Egyptian efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Strip were reviewed. The two presidents were keen to emphasize the importance of restoring calm through an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid.

They also emphasized the importance of the two-state solution as the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.
