President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the call addressed the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo. President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the ongoing communication and consultation with President Tshisekedi, commending his participation in the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
For his part, President Tshisekedi appreciated the momentum in Egyptian-Congolese relations, expressing his gratitude for the support that Egypt provides to his country in various sectors.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that the call also touched on the latest developments in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where the President welcomed the signing of the Doha Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Congolese government and the Congo River Alliance/March 23 Movement.
The President affirmed Egypt's readiness to exert every possible effort, including providing the necessary forums for the concerned parties. For his part, the Congolese President expressed his appreciation for Egypt's support for peace and stability efforts in his country and the region. Both presidents agreed on the need to intensify efforts to overcome any obstacles that might hinder the implementation of the peace agreements.
