President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the annual Egyptian Family Iftar ceremony held at the Air Defense House, in the presence of senior state officials, ministers and representatives of different segments of Egyptian society.

Among those attending were Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Speaker of the House of Representatives Hisham Badawi, Senate Speaker Essam El-Din Farid, Coptic Orthodox Pope Pope Tawadros II, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa, and Defense Minister Ashraf Salem Zaher, along with a number of ministers and senior public figures.

During the event, Sisi spoke about regional developments and their impact on Egypt, noting that the Middle East is going through a sensitive period marked by ongoing conflicts and rising tensions. He said Egypt continues to work to contain regional escalation and support stability in Arab countries, while calling for dialogue, adherence to international law and efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

The president said these developments have affected the global economy, causing disruptions in supply chains and increases in energy and food prices. He explained that Egypt has also been affected by these pressures, which required the government to take economic measures aimed at maintaining stability and ensuring the continued availability of strategic goods.

Sisi said the government understands the pressures faced by citizens, noting that recent adjustments in fuel prices were difficult but necessary decisions taken after careful assessment in order to avoid more severe economic consequences. He added that the state continues to provide subsidized goods for the most vulnerable families and to monitor markets to prevent unjustified price increases.

The president also directed the government to accelerate the launch of a new social protection package targeting low- and middle-income groups to help them cope with current economic conditions.

Sisi stressed the importance of transparency and communication with citizens regarding economic challenges and decisions, noting that Egypt has faced several global crises in recent years that have had economic repercussions, including the impact on revenues from the Suez Canal.

He concluded by calling for unity and awareness among Egyptians, stressing that solidarity and cooperation are essential to overcoming challenges and safeguarding the country’s stability and future.
