President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Brazilian President Lula da Silva, on the sidelines of the president’s participation in the G20 summit meetings held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic indicated that the President was keen, at the beginning of the interview, to thank the Brazilian President for inviting Egypt to participate in the G20 activities this year, which reflects Brazil’s appreciation for Egypt’s weight in the Middle East region and on the African continent, praising the distinguished organization of the summit.
On his part, The Brazilian President appreciated the active Egyptian participation in the group’s meetings throughout the year, which supported the needs and priorities of developing countries, stressing his appreciation for the President’s participation in the summit’s work.
The two presidents discussed the regional situation, where President Sisi reviewed the Egyptian efforts to restore stability in the Middle East and the immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, praising the Brazilian positions that support for the Palestinian cause, which was appreciated by the Brazilian president, who confirmed his country’s great appreciation for the historical Egyptian role in supporting the Palestinian people and cause.
The two sides agreed on the necessity of implementing the two-state solution and expanding international recognition of the Palestinian state.
