Portugal's Prime Minister and the Leader of the Socialist Party António Costa tested posted for Coronavirus, media agencies reported on Tuesday.
He contracted the virus two days after his victory in the elections and the forming of the new government.
The Prime Minister announced that he will self-isolate himself for seven days, according to the measures of COVID-19 in his country.
Costa was scheduled to meet the President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to start his responsibilities officially.
Serving in this position since 2015, the official will have another four-year term after winning the latest elections in the country.
In the same context, the socialist party won 117 seats from 230 ones, therefore, Costa and the members of the party alongside their supporters had various crowded celebrations.
Those results were somehow surprising as the party didn’t expect to win with the majority.
The leader of the party responded to such a great victory, describing: “An absolute majority doesn't mean absolute power. It doesn't mean governing alone. It's an increased responsibility."
The opposition of the party only took 71 seats.
