On Monday, Pope Francis announced that his next visit will be to Lebanon, adding that he had accepted the invitation of the Lebanon Catholic Church.
In an hour-long press conference on the plane returning from Baghdad to Rome, Pope Francis revealed that his next visit will be to Lebanon.
Talking to Sky News Arabia, Pope Francis said: "Lebanon is in a crisis and it has a weakness resulting from social, religious, and ethnic persity, but the afflicted country has the power of the people."
"Lebanon’s Patriarch al-Rahi asked me on this trip to stop in Beirut. I wrote to him a letter and promised to visit the afflicted country," Francis added.
It's worth noting that Francis broke a 15-month hiatus from international travel with what is sure to be a historic visit to the Middle Eastern nation of Iraq.
