Pope Francis expressed his grave concern about the escalation of tensions between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
In his word durind the Easter Mass, he said that the attacks threaten the atmosphere of trust and mutual respect desired for the resumption of dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis, so that peace prevails in the Holy City and the entire region.
It is worth mentioning, Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy chief, on Saturday denounced the escalation of violence between Israel and the Palestinians and urged all sides to exercise restraint and calm during the current holiday period.
"Israel has the right to defend itself. At the same time, any response should be proportionate. The European Union calls for an immediate halt to the ongoing violence. Everything must be done to prevent a spillover of the conflict," Borrell said in a statement.
He added, "We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid further escalation, and remain calm during the current religious holidays."
