US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday that the US administration and Europe need to work together to confront Turkey's actions in the Middle East over the past few months, according to Sputnik news agency.

In exclusive statements to the French daily newspaper "Le Figaro", Pompeo added, "French President Emmanuel Macron and I agree that Turkey's recent actions have been very aggressive."

The US Secretary of State referred to "Turkey's support for Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Armenia, as well as the military moves in Libya and the Mediterranean."

It is worth mentioning that, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Turkey on Tuesday, but he won’t meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a matter which considered by Turkish officials as an ‘insult’, according to Bloomberg.

In Turkey, the US Secretary of State is scheduled to meet with a number of religious figures including Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholowew I, the Greek Orthodox Christian leader.

According to US officials, Pompeo will not travel to the capital, Ankara.
