Pakistan's Prime Minister Anwaar Kakar acknowledged the services of the Christian community during his visit to the town of Jaranwala in Punjab province.
In his address to a gathering at the beleaguered town, Kakar said: "My initial education was at San Francis Grammar School. Should I forget Sister Cecilia or should I forget Father Joshua? Or those kind teachers who initiated the process of our grooming? Those who taught us to walk; Those who taught us to speak; Those who taught us to read. And hundreds of thousands like me who benefited from the services of missionary schools."
He continued: "Who would be that imprudent and unwise a person not to acknowledge that? From Karachi to Kolkata and from Kolkata to Mumbai, there is no city where there is no positive service of this community for the society."
The premier's visit came after radical extremists torched 21 churches and numerous homes of the Christian community last week.
