Palestinian to Run for Virginia Lieutenant Governor in 2021

Palestinian youth Sam Rasoul will run for the position of Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in the elections scheduled for next year, 2021. 

The upcoming event will include the election of the state governor, the attorney general, the deputy governor, in addition to one hundred seats in the Council of Delegates.

Rasoul was born on June 30, 1981. He is an American politician. 

The 39-year Democrat was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in January 2014. He is one of two Muslim members of the Virginia General Assembly.

He represents Virginia's 11th House of Delegates district, which is made up of part of the City of Roanoke. In November 2020. He announced his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2021.

He is the son of Palestinian immigrants. He and his wife Layaly have three children.

The Palestinian and Arab community held several meetings via video to discuss ways to help Rasoul reach this position and provide material support for his election campaign.
