Dr. May Al-Kayla, Palestine’s Health Minister has affirmed the decline of the curve of infections with the Coronavirus.

She indicated that the number of daily infections with the deadly virus reduces but the death toll of COVID-19 is still high.

The Palestinian minister made clear during an interview with the official Palestinian radio today, that the spiking death toll indicates the “Delta” strain of COVID-19 is sweeping through Palestine now.

She revealed that an 18-year girl died in hospital of the Coronavirus despite she did not catch any other disease.

However, Dr. Al-Kayla added that deaths were reported among people who received two doses of the anti-Corona vaccine.

She said that the vaccines provide protection estimated at 94% to those who have been vaccinated but there is a percentage of infection with the virus.

On the other hand, Dr. Afif Atawneh, a Palestinian official who is responsible for the Corona file in the south of the  West Bank, said the Palestinian people go through a complicated situation due to higher rates of infections with COVID-19 and obstacles that prevent the admission of the infected to hospitals.

He confirmed during an interview with "Voice of Palestine" radio, that there is a clear and tangible decrease in the number of recorded infections and in the positive percentages of the samples drawn, which range from 7% to 10% on a daily basis.

Atawneh added that what we emphasize is that infections are still present, hospitalizations are increasing, and deaths are increasing."

He continued to say they have experienced an epidemic wave since the past 8 weeks, and this is one of the characteristics of it, as there are periods of high infections and periods of decrease.

He urged the Palestinian health authorities  to  be more cautious and vigilant to check the deadly virus.
