Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday that Pakistan has the right to defend itself, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
Pakistan's Geo News website quoted a statement from Sharif's office as saying that he strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks launched by India, which killed 31 Pakistani civilians, injured 57 others, and damaged civilian infrastructure. He added that India's attacks violated Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and seriously endangered peace and stability in the South Asian region.
The Pakistani Prime Minister affirmed his country's firm intention to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs, adding that the people of Pakistan are outraged by India's unjustified acts of war.
Sharif also expressed his appreciation for US President Trump's concern about the current security situation in South Asia.
