Pakistani police announced the killing of six militants during a security operation in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest of the country.
In a statement carried by Pakistan's Geo News on Sunday, police explained that the operation was launched based on intelligence indicating the presence of militants in the area. An exchange of fire ensued between security forces and the militants, resulting in the deaths of six of them.
A quantity of weapons was seized from the militants, and a search operation is underway in the area to ensure no other armed elements remain.
Pakistan has witnessed a significant increase in the frequency of armed attacks, with most attacks reported in Pakistani provinces bordering Afghanistan, most notably Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
