Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on National Security has strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorist attacks and called for the immediate implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) to eliminate terror networks and disrupt their logistical operations. The committee emphasized the need for a decisive and united approach, urging all political and security stakeholders to work together to eradicate terrorism from the country.
During an in-camera session chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented a unanimously adopted declaration, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to national security. The meeting was attended by senior government officials, members of parliament, military leaders, and intelligence representatives, including Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
The committee lauded the bravery and professionalism of Pakistan’s security forces, acknowledging their sacrifices in defending the nation against terrorism. Expressing full solidarity with the families affected by terrorist attacks, the committee reassured the nation that all possible measures would be taken to restore peace and stability.
A key concern highlighted in the meeting was the growing misuse of social media by terrorist groups for propaganda, recruitment, and coordination of attacks. The committee stressed the urgency of strengthening digital security measures and called for immediate action to dismantle terrorist networks operating online.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to eliminate all forms of terrorism, the committee declared that no institution, individual, or group collaborating with hostile forces to destabilize the country would be tolerated. The forum emphasized that the entire nation stands firmly behind its armed forces, police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies in the fight against terrorism.
The committee also expressed regret over the absence of certain opposition members from the session, while reaffirming that political consultation on national security will continue. The meeting concluded with a strong call for national unity, highlighting that Pakistan’s security and stability must remain a shared priority.
With the National Action Plan now at the forefront, Pakistan is reinforcing its counterterrorism strategy, sending a clear message that terrorism will not be allowed to take root in the country.
