Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, stated on Saturday that his government’s efforts to mediate a ceasefire between the United States and Iran are "on the right track."
Andrabi made these remarks to the Associated Press (AP) following reports suggesting that mediation efforts had reached a deadlock.
His comments come approximately a week after Pakistan hosted high-level diplomats from Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, during which Islamabad reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate talks between Washington and Tehran.
Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that his government "has never refused to go to Islamabad" but is seeking a "final and permanent" resolution to the conflict.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, welcomed the statement, posting on the X platform: "I truly appreciate your clarification, my dear brother Araghchi."
